Creating value as a responsible investor

Sustainable value creation is a strategic priority for Investcorp, both in our capacity as a business enterprise and as an investor. Much has changed since the publication of our last report, and we acknowledge that we all have a brief window of opportunity to secure a sustainable future for everyone.

In this year’s report, we have outlined the progress made on our core commitments to build high-performing sustainable businesses, to leverage the diversity of our firm to drive greater social impact, and to deploy our resources and capital to accelerate decarbonization both within the firm and across our investment portfolio.

This report underscores our commitment to be a leader in responsible investing, and we hope that it reflects the breadth of our efforts, our achievements to date, and the challenges that lie ahead of us.

Our commitments

Investcorp shares INJAZ Al-Arab’s belief in the potential of Arab youth. With our support, INJAZ acts as the regional hub for Junior Achievement Worldwide, providing education and training in workforce readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship to hundreds of young people each year.

Investcorp supported the Bahrain’s Crown Prince International Scholarship Program which provides youth the opportunity to study at top international universities and colleges. The program supports the career development of young Bahrainis and equips them with the necessary tools to become effective decision makers who contribute to Bahrain’s development, both nationally and globally.

Investcorp co-founded the non-profit GCC BDI in 2007 as a way to strengthen board-level leadership and effective corporate governance across the Gulf.

As a longtime supporter of the University of Oxford, we donated the funds to create The Investcorp Building, Middle East Centre at St Antony’s College in 2015. The building has allowed for the expansion of the Middle East Centre’s teaching capacity and public outreach program, as well as its research library and archive.

In 2019, Investcorp was honored with an engraving on the University’s Clarendon Arch, joining other distinguished past donors, including Sir Thomas Bodley, Queen Elizabeth I, John Radcliffe, King Henry VIII, Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, and Queen Elizabeth II.

Our annual intensive leadership program has hosted more than 200 emerging global business leaders at elite institutions including Oxford Said Business School, Cambridge, Judge Business School, INSEAD, Columbia and IMD Business School at Lausanne. The first meeting of program alumni took place in Bahrain in 2019.
