Investcorp, a leading provider and manager of alternative investment products, today announced the appointment of Nemir Kirdar, as Founding Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Middle East Centre at St Antony’s College, Oxford University.
The principal remit of the Advisory Board is to enable the Middle East Centre to fulfil its mission to serve as a bridge between the Middle East and the West and to preserve its position as the Western world’s pre-eminent centre for the study of the modern Middle East.
Nemir Kirdar said: “I am deeply honoured by the opportunity to serve the Middle East Centre in this capacity and to help advance its mission of fostering dialogue and understanding of the Middle East region. In addition to the financial bridge Investcorp creates for our clients between the Middle East and the West, we have long held the view that providing a conduit for cross-cultural understanding is core to our mission. The Middle East Centre at St Antony’s College will provide an educational bridge of this kind, and we are immensely proud to serve this cause.”
Mr. Kirdar’s appointment coincides with the unveiling and naming of the Investcorp Building at Oxford University’s Middle East Centre on Tuesday 26 May. Funded by Investcorp, the Middle East Centre’s bold new headquarters spans two Victorian buildings on Woodstock Road in the grounds of St Antony’s College, and was designed by the Iraqi architect, Zaha Hadid.
